Among Energy Stars
the Power of the Earth
half the solar energy our planet receives is absorbed by the ground. As
a result, below the surface the earth remains a constant moderate temperature
year-round. This provides an ideal source for heating and cooling your
home. Geothermal systems use a sealed underground piping loop filled with
circulating water and an ultra high-efficiency Tranquility heat pump to
exchange heat between your home and the earth.
In the winter, the earth is your source of heat. Water circulating in
the piping loop absorbs heat from the earth and carries it to the heat
pump, where it is concentrated and sent as warm, comfortable air throughout
In the summer, the earth is your source of cooling. The heat pump absorbs
heat from the air in your home and transfers it to water circulating in
the piping loop where it is absorbed by the earth. This provides cool,
dehumidified and comfortable air throughout your home.
Geothermal Saves You Money
traditional systems that use the air to heat and cool your home, ClimateMaster®
systems circulate water through a system of sealed underground piping
loops that carry heat to and from the earth to the system. In the heating
mode, the system uses the heat from the water to warm air that circulates
throughout the house. In the cooling mode, the system reverses the process,
taking heat out of the homes air and circulating the resulting cool,
dehumidified air instead. Because the system has less work to do to reach
the desired temperature setting throughout the year, the system is highly
efficient and lowers operating costs. A fossil fuel
furnace may be 80% to 90% percent efficient; a geothermal heat pump is
amazingly 450% efficient.
Another advantage to a geothermal system installed in a new home is that
from day one you will be cash flow positive, as the
cost of the system each month is lower than the savings you realize
on your monthly energy cost!
Technology is proven technology. Geothermal systems have been used for
over 40 years and millions of units have been installed world-wide in
commercial and residential applications.

ClimateMaster Geothermal Heat Pumps Use Earth Pure® Refrigerant.
EarthPure is a non-ozone depleting refrigerant and has significant advantages
over other refrigerants that harm the environment.
heat pumps from ClimateMaster use units that are placed in a basement,
garage or utility room. This helps reduce noise, improves the look of
your home and leads to longer system life.

What is a geothermal heat pump?
A: A geothermal or ground-source heat pump is an electrically
powered device that uses the natural heat storage ability of the earth
and/or the earths groundwater to heat and cool your home or business.
Q: How does it work?
A: Like any type of heat pump, it simply moves heat energy from one place
to another. The geothermal heat pump removes heat energy stored in the
earth and/or the earths groundwater and transfers it to the home.
Q: How is heat transferred between the earth and the home?
A: The earth has the ability to absorb and store heat energy. To use that
stored energy, heat is extracted from the earth through a liquid medium
(water) and is pumped to the heat pump heat exchanger. There, the heat
is used to heat your home. In summer the process is reversed and indoor
heat is extracted from your home and transferred to the earth through
Q: You mentioned heating and cooling. Does it do both?
A: One of the things that makes a heat pump so versatile is its ability
to be a heating and cooling system in one. You can change from one mode
to another with a simple flip of a switch on your indoor thermostat. Plus,
a geothermal heat pump can assist in heating water year-round.
Q: Do I need separate ground loops for heating and cooling?
A: No. The same loop works for both. All that happens when changing from
heating to cooling, or vice versa, is that the flow of heat is reversed
inside the unit.
Q: What types of loops system do you usee?
A: Closed loop system.
Q: Does the underground pipe system really work?
A: The buried pipe, or ground loop, is the biggest technical
advancement in heat pump technology to date. The idea to bury pipe in
the ground to gather heat energy began in the 1940s. But its only
been in the last 25 years that new heat pump designs and improved pipe
materials have been combined to make geothermal heat pumps the most efficient
heating and cooling systems available.

environmental advantages of Energy Star qualified Tranquility heat pumps
are clear. Up to 80% of energy supplied comes directly from the earth
and is clean, free and renewable. This means geothermal heat pumps offer
the lowest carbon footprint of any space conditioning technology. According
to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), geothermal systems
are the most energy-efficient, environmentally clean and cost-effective
space conditioning systems available today.
